  • What is Solution Focused Therapy?
Solution Focused Therapy is a modern talking therapy which meets you where you are now and focuses on the changes you want to make in the future. You do not need to re-live past events or try and unpick previous problems. This therapy encourages you to set achievable goals each session to help improve your quality of life at a rate that suits you. It has been proven to help create new and positive neural pathways in the brain which will help you far beyond our sessions ending. Another great aspect of Solution Focused therapy is that it is generally much quicker than more traditional routes of therapy, with the average being 8-12 sessions.
  • What is hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy, or trance, is when your brain is in an extremely relaxed state and can begin to work through what we have talked about in session. Electomyography scans during trance have shown the brain to become extremely relaxed, before working in different ways to when we are in our alert state. Trance is completely natural, very relaxing and proven to be effective for many positive changes.
  • Will you turn me into a chicken?
Absolutely not. I wouldn't and to be honest I can't! Trance in a therapeutic setting is completely different from stage hypnotism. I am also a member of various therapeutic associations and abide by their strict code of ethics and supervision requirements, client's coming out of a session clucking like a chicken is a no go.
  • Can I get stuck in a trance?
No you cannot. At the very most you may feel like you have fallen asleep and take a minute or so to become fully alert, which is completely normal. You are in full control at all times, only guided by me.
  • How many sessions do I need?
This varies depending on your treatment plan and I can recommend more accurately in our initial consultation. Generally clients' have one session per week for 8-12 weeks. This is available on a pay monthly plan. Sometimes sessions can take longer depending on your symptoms. I also have clients who come to me for a "top-up" throughout the year to help them stay focused and calm. It's all about what works for you! Smoking cessation can be done in one two-hour session and phobia treatment is 4 sessions.
  • Where can we have sessions?
I offer face to face sessions in Billingshurst on Thursdays and Fridays, as well as running an online clinic Mon -Sat. Online therapy sessions have been proven to be just as effective as in-person sessions. If you would prefer your sessions in the comfort of your own home then all you need is a phone/tablet/laptop and a comfy sofa or bed! Even my more local clients often prefer online sessions as it saves on travel time and they can stay comfortably in their slippers (slippers welcome at my face to face clinic as well, by the way!) Alternatively, some clients enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the therapy room and like to travel to Billingshurst.
  • I'm not sure if hypnotherapy is for me, where can I find out more?
If you have any specific questions then please contact me via the contact form or social media. We can also have a free, no obligation phone call for you to find out more and to see if Solution Focused Hypnotherapy would be suitable for you. I also intermittently run group Hypnotherapy Taster evenings both in person and online. This is a great way to see if you enjoy it before committing to individual sessions, or just to unwind and feel inspired for the week ahead.
